Turf Laying and Lawn Care for Maidstone, Tonbridge, Tunbridge wells, Sevenoaks and all other areas of Kent.

We take the same care when turfing your lawn as we do with all of our garden services. For many, the lawn is a main feature of the garden. Poor turfing and turf laying can spoil it and cause long term lawn problems.

Turfing of a new lawn is complet, and almost ready to use right away
One of our newly laid lawns in Sevenoaks

Lawns do not usually develop problems overnight - unless the recently laid lawn was not correctly prepared! - so there is rarely a quick fix that will work.

Firstly - we analyse your lawn to find and the problem, then come up with a solution to deal with the cause of the problem! (Sounds familiar?)

We have experience of all types of grass - from the small garden lawn through to bowling and golf greens.

There are of course things that can be done in the short term to improve the look of most lawns, but generally the maintenance regime has to alter to ensure the problem is kept at bay. It may be something simple like a regular mowing with the mower set at the right height, or it could be a more complex problem associated with soil type - or even the type grass plants being unsuited to a particular environment!

Common causes of lawn problems - not in any particular order are >>>>

  • Soil compaction because of heavy wear or even raindrops falling from trees!
  • A too heavy - or too light soil type for the lawn's use.
  • Irregular maintenance - in particular regarding regular mowing.
  • Moss - either because of shaded conditions, poor feeding regime, or acid soil type
  • Brown patches - mowing too close, the 'lady' dog, wrongly adjusted mower etc.
  • Lack of vigour - poor feeding, or basic poor maintenance.
  • Thatch - a build up of dry vegetation above the soil - right under the grass sward
  • Poor drainage - surface drainage or perhaps deeper clay soil type problems.
  • Fairy Rings and other fungi. Often decaying matter under the soil. Dead roots etc.
  • Weeds - Many causes of this problem

This is no means exhaustive, but covers most problems.
